Beyond the Garden – a Birthday Card for my wife

My wife isn’t really into the traditional girlie colours – pink, orange, etc. She prefers blues, greens, etc. So making her Birthday cards is a little more challenging than it could be 😉

Anyways – She loves cornflowers and the lovely daisy in the ‘Beyond the Garden’ DSP reminded me a a cornflower, so I set too designing a card for her recent birthday based on this blue daisy… and this is what I came up with:

Now, because the card is larger that the standard C5 (it’s 15cm square – well just under) I had to get creative with the envelope! The envelope is an A4 sheet of Whisper White card stock, folded to center the card within it. A couple of slits cut just above and below the card were folder inwards to hold the card in place. Then a strip of ‘Beyond the Garden’ DSP down the center to hide the strip of exposed card (I will try and get a photo of the open envelope later to give you a better idea of construction):

She absolutely loved it. PHEW!!!

A couple of quick floral Birthday Cards

I needed to quickly make some Birthday cards for some upcoming dates, so I decide to have a play around with some of the ‘Beyond the Garden’ Product Suite from the current mini Catalogue (Summer Mini Catalogue, ends March 31st 2012) and finding some inspiration from Sharlene Meyers blog.

I find this Product Suite particularly appealing – maybe it’s the gardener in me?

Using the lovely ‘Flower Garden’ Textured Impressions embossing folder and a strip of DSP from the series I came up with the following pair of cards. Simple, but elegant.

What’s Going On!?? New Content Appearing…

For anyone who visited in the last few days and who has come back, or if you visit several times and notice retrospective content that wasn’t there the first time – don’t worry… be happy! 🙂

I’m finally (yes, I KNOW!) getting content loaded onto this site, and I am dating the blogs with the (approx) date that I create the card.

So when you visit next, you might want to scroll back through all the posts to see what’s appeared since your last visit. I hope to have it all loaded in the next couple of weeks (before Christmas). Until it is all loaded you might find some “gaps” in the information about the items and the product used. Froggie

Our family friends son was turning 9 and he has an old stuff toy called Froggie. So I made a Froggie Birthday card with some inspiration from other frog Punch Art designs.

Master Monkey’s 10th Birthday

Michael has this thing for monkeys. He goes by the “code name” Master Monkey when he is playing, so I came up with a suitable Birthday card for his 10th Birthday.
